What we do

VAT returns

The right VAT scheme for your business, records that keep themselves tidy, and returns filed on time.

In short

The right VAT scheme, filed on time.

VAT is where small businesses lose the most money to simple mistakes: the wrong scheme, VAT they never claimed back, or signing up too late. Half the job is filling the return in. The other half is picking the arrangement that suits how you actually trade, then setting up records that stay correct on their own.

What is included

Which scheme suits you
There are several ways to work out VAT and they give very different answers. We compare them against your real figures, and check again if your business changes.
Signing up and coming off
We handle the registration. That includes signing up early on purpose where claiming VAT back would leave you better off, and coming off if your sales drop.
Your quarterly return
Prepared from your records, checked against your bank, looked over for the things people usually forget to claim, and filed with HMRC.
Setting up your records
Bank feeds and receipt photos, set up once, so keeping the right records does not add anything to your week.

Who this is for

  • Businesses getting close to the point where VAT becomes compulsory
  • Anyone on the Flat Rate Scheme who has never had it checked
  • Online sellers who are not sure which country’s VAT applies
  • Builders dealing with the reverse charge rules

When it is due

VAT returns and payment are usually due one month and seven days after the end of each three-month period. You must register within 30 days of going over the threshold.

We confirm your dates in writing and keep track of them for you from then on.

How we run it

A routine, not a panic

We agree at the start what we need from you and when, and what you get back and when. After that it just happens, without anyone chasing anyone.

You get a written list of every date that applies to you, a reminder before each one, and the filing done early. If something changes in your business we change the plan, instead of finding out about it at the year end.

  • Signing up for VAT, or coming off it
  • Choosing the VAT scheme that costs you the least
  • Your VAT return every three months, filed for you
  • Records set up to meet the Making Tax Digital rules

How it works

Four steps, and three of them are ours

    A free 20-minute chat

Tell us what you do and what you need. No charge, no pressure and no sales pitch.

  2. A written price being prepared for a new client02

    A price in writing

Within one working day you get one monthly price and a list of exactly what it covers.

  3. Client records being collected when changing accountant03

    We do the moving

We write to your old accountant, collect your paperwork and register with HMRC. You sign one form.

  4. The month-to-month routine of bookkeeping and filing04

    You stop worrying about it

We remind you before every deadline and file early. You hear from us before you hear from HMRC.
